Prior Learning Evaluator
- Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) evaluators serve as adjunct faculty to evaluate student proposals for credit based on prior learning gained from activity not validated through traditional coursework and not appearing on a college transcript. Students work with academic advisors to determine if PLA is a viable option and to develop a PLA proposal for each subject area. PLA evaluators serve as subject matter experts, with at least a master’s degree or the equivalent, to conduct evaluations in their subject area(s) by reviewing student-generated materials, interviewing the student, and providing a written recommendation. Evaluators serve on an ad hoc basis as assigned by staff in the Office of Prior Learning.

- Learning coaches are professional tutors who provide one to one learning assistance and coaching to undergrad and graduate students in writing, study skills, time management, math, science, business subjects, and basic navigation of College systems and Office 365 programs. Assistance might include reviewing class material, discussing a text or math problem , assisting with generating ideas for papers, advising student on learning strategies, organization of course materials, teaching the student the basics of MS Word, etc. Coaches may also design and/or deliver academic skills workshops. Preferred qualifications include a master’s degree and experience supporting college students. Coaches may be hired to work onsite and/or remotely, depending on location and hours needed. Evening and weekend hours are available.
Course Designer
- Online course developers draw on their subject matter expertise to work collaboratively with our instructional design team to create high quality and engaging online courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Clinical Field Supervisor
- Clinical field supervisors serve as adjunct faculty members who evaluate SUNY Empire students in clinical settings.
